Meritocracy is a myth in a corporate environment!
Meritocracy is a myth in a corporate environment. Workers still believe today that they will make it to the top by remaining grounded in their comfort zones. They will wait for things to happen, instead of making things happen for them. So to say, people who climb up the promotion ladder at work are those who ‘make things happen’.
Those who remain stuck for decades in the same position or retires with practically in the same position or get one or two ‘automatic’ consideration here and there are those who ‘wait for things to happen’ at work. Broadly the two categories are not in competition. They are walking down two roads that never meet and will never cross each other. Therefore if a person joining the world of work wants to climb the career ladder improve things in the corporate world, then there is only one option: make things happen.
