To mark the #IVD2019, this year we celebrated both the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (#IDPD2019) and the International Volunteer Day (#IVD2019) together on Wednesday 4 December 2019 at the Rivière des Anguilles Community Centre (a village in the south of Mauritius) with the elderly and the handicapped of the locality. AHEAD shared with the audience the importance of #IVD themed by the UN as “Volunteer for an inclusive future”.
On that occasion, the Members of the Parliament (MPs) of the said constituency, namely, Dr the Hon Renganaden Padayachy ( Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Development); Dr the Hon Kailesh Kumar Singh Jagutpal (Minister of Health and Wellness); and Dr the Hon Muhammad Ismaël Rawoo (the Parliamentary Private Secretary [PPS] for Port Louis Maritime, Port Louis East & Rivère des Anguilles and Souillac graced the function by their esteemed presence. They also in turn delivered a speech and invited for a more inclusive and equitable society.
Lunch and refreshments were served by AHEAD to some 250 people on that day.
