International Mother Earth Day

Goal 13: Climate action

There is no country that is not experiencing the drastic effects of climate change. Greenhouse gas emissions are more than 50 percent higher than in 1990. Global warming is causing long-lasting changes to our climate system, which threatens irreversible consequences if we do not act. One of major challenge the earth is facing today is pollution in all its forms and in its worst forms. Human action is at its worst in terms of waste production and disposal. SDG #13, “take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts” is most urgent now, more than ever.

AHEAD actively engages since 2008 in cleaning activities to keep the environment clean and engages in advocacy building and reinforcing capacity of people in a proactive manner so as to encourage a new mind-set vis a vis garbage disposal and the importance of the 3Rs.

This year AHEAD comes up more actively with both proactive actions at grassroots with mass sensitisation campaign and in depth cleaning campaigns in a number of villages and road sides, including public beaches.
