AHEAD’s Social Work Practice with Local Communities / Community Learning and Engagement Programme (CLEn)
Between 2018 to 2022, more than 300 students/ volunteers have been trained by AHEAD under the AHEAD’s Social Work Practice with Local Communities / Community Learning and Engagement Programme (CLEn). AHEAD started its 1st engagement with university students in 2018 (visit AHEAD’s website: Here).
Students/volunteers from different universities in Mauritius and from abroad have engaged and continue to engage with the community as volunteers, mentored by our seasoned community leaders/social workers. AHEAD’s objective is to engage in sustainable development activities (visit AHEAD’s website: Here)
Most of our students have been from the University of Technology (UTM) and from the University of Mauritius (UOM). Our programme is well structured and provides an opportunity for students to put into practice their academic knowledge into practice. The real world is a whole different level experience.
Our engagement programme is very flexible, fun and instructive. Students are expected to volunteer for a period of at least 2 months on a part-time basis, including Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays. During that period, students have the opportunity to explore and experience a variety of opportunities that will unleash their potential in human relations, relations with nature and life skills, and among others.
AHEAD is pleased to invite any person who is interested to engage with the community for a good cause. We aim for a fair, just and inclusive society.
