Our Enthusiasm

We are driven by passion for social service and volunteering. We support and empower the vulnerable groups and work with individuals, organisations and the community to meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as enshrined in our “Objects”. All our activities, engagements and endeavours are gender cross cutting. Our team of volunteers work together, aiming at improving the livelihoods and lives of the individual sustainably.

Our Object

Sustainable Development is our main objective. We mainly engage in activities that are sustainable in time, mainstreaming:

  • People
  • Rights
  • Gender
  • World of Work
  • Education
  • Environment
  • Wellness
  • Living Things

Gender is one of our mainstreaming engagements and AHEAD invests fully in ensuring equality, inclusion and empowerment of women in everything it does.

Our belief

It is AHEAD’s strong belief that economic development must be in harmony with nature where human presence inserts smoothly in the ecosystem respecting living things and the environment. We endeavour to find the right equilibrium between social, economy and the environment.

Our Presence

AHEAD works at grass-root level especially with the vulnerable groups mostly in villages and remote places where facilities are scarce. It has a local and national presence.

AHEAD also works in Rodrigues. We work with the community in harmony with the locals respecting the island’s specificities. Our main focus in Rodrigues is building the capacity of women/girls on gender based violence, social inclusion, education and social entrepreneurship.

We support some vulnerable families in Rodrigues. We also empower the young to enable them become responsible adults focusing mainly on rights, the world of work and social entrepreneurship.

Our Research Areas

Special Education:  Education/ Capacity Building and Reinforcement are key to our Objects. We are presently carrying out our research since 2019 in the field of Special Education and the mainstream education system. The research is in progress. It is underlined that the research is fully supported by the individuals conducting the research. Donors are invited to finance the project as the findings will be beneficial to the vulnerable community of “children with learning difficulties”.

Drinking Water: #SDG6 “Clean Water and Sanitation” – means to “ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all”. Mauritius is still unable to provide uninterrupted drinking water supply to its whole population on a 24/7 basis. Research is being conducted in this field since 2020.
